We have noticed a few cases where customers are getting incomplete Microsoft Exchange Outlook Web Access sites.  You will see Red X in place of images and the over-all theme will look off.  Here is a screen shot of the issue:

OWA-Failed UR

This issue can also present itself as a blank screen when accessing https://remote.domain.com/owa.

Resolution

To resolve this issue install the latest Exchange 2007 Update Rollup.  If it is already installed, the installation may be corrupt.  In this case, you should reinstall the UR.  At the time of this blog's writing the current UR is 8 which can be found here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=e1f5c8b2-c4f2-4eba-849b-e464d4f2869c.

  • PingBack from http://www.ditii.com/2009/06/02/sbs-2008-incomplete-corrupt-red-x-owa/

  • Is the RSS feed broken to this blog ?

  • We have tried to reload the update Rollup to get OWA working but have the message that states (the installer has insuffient privlages to modify this file.) Has any one an idea of what is required Logged in as Administrator and Admin user group. All other parts are working in exchange just the OWA not working.

  • Try opening cmd prompt as administrator (right-click run as administrator) and launching the Update Rollup from the elevated command prompt.

  • Start > Run > Control keymgr.dll and clear the stored usernames and passwords. Worked for me with failed Exchange rollups on a new installation!

  • What are the default authentication settings for SBS 2008/E2K7 SBS Web Applications/Exchange/OWA?  I was having some issues with OWA and I change the settings and did not record the changes I made.
