You've created RMS templates. You've dumped them to the drive to distribute. You look at the templates, and they have a name resembling the following:

TMP-O6tlI;egFP6rLDCPLUPNXXxt5YKU=-4Ew62WVSylQ8;ePhl9Yc9N0kB;eRI=-{6d9371a6;k4e2d;k4e97;k9a38;k202233fed26e}.xml

Wow!! Say that 10 times fast.

So let's say you actually aren't a robot, and want to see the names in a happy naming format like:

Do Not Forward.xml

So here is the deal. If you want the templates to show up in a happy naming format that is the same as what you actually named it, then you need to create the template in the same language as the OS language, and THEN add any other languages you may require. If you do this all the forces of nature will unite, and your templates will be happily dropped with the actual name instead of a GUID.

Thanks to Florian Schneider for locking himself in the basement for a few hours to unravel the mystery.

  • <p>That may be *a* cause of this but its not the only cause. &nbsp;I&#39;m currently experiencing this problem but the only language ever added to the template was English (United States) which is the same on the Windows Server 2008 R2, on which AD RMS resides, and the Windows 7 client operating systems. &nbsp;Tell Florian to go back to the drawing board!</p>

  • <p>@Peanut Butter Fan. I don&#39;t think Florian can do anymore time in the basement without cracking. If you find another reason, please let us know.</p>
