&lt;p&gt;Microsoft are the WORST at providing simple means for backing up system settings so that they can be easily restored later should the user need to re-install the OS. I was just trying to back up my power settings, and learnt that they are buried in the Registry under a key named &amp;quot;381b4222-f694-41f0-9685-ff5bb260df2e&amp;quot;. For a multimillion company such as Microsoft, it&amp;#39;s hard to believe that this is the best they can come up with.&lt;/p&gt;
