One of the inherent issues in the age of Cloud is one of Discoverability – knowing how to search for and find all the great services and resources that exist.  When it comes to Educationally relevant resources, Microsoft offers over 100 FREE tools, eBooks, applications and websites, many of which you’ve likely never seen or explored.

Our Partners in Learning team has compiled an exhaustive list of these tools using a convenient Azure application called TeachTec Tools for Schools with filtering options for school subject areas and audience, as well as capability to bookmark, copy and share links for easy socialization.

A couple of my favorites:

  • 12 free eBooks labeled as “Educator Guides” – how to use technology in the classroom and in your curriculum
  • PhotoSynth – a free digital photo tool that allows you to “stitch” your panoramic pictures into 3D space and even geolocate in Bing Maps
  • Worldwide Telescope – a free web or Windows client to explore the solar system, night sky or planetary objects in amazing detail

Take a few minutes and surprise yourself with the breadth and depth of Microsoft’s resources for classroom creativity and exploration.  Enjoy!
