WebPI_thumb[1] We are days away from two of the most important events for Microsoft. We begin on November 9 with TechEd Europe 2009 in Berin where attendees have access to in-depth knowledge and connect with peers, Microsoft Staff, Microsoft Influencers, Partners and more with the presence of Corporate President Stephen Elop and Corporate VP Robert Wahbe.

Just a few days after we kick-off the PDC09 at the Los Angeles Convention Center with keynotes from Ray Ozzie, Bob Muglia, Kurt DelBene and Scott Guthrie. This is the event developers from around the world will have the opportunity to see the future of developer technology.

Both of these events will showcase the tremendous amount of work that we have done with Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2 and other technologies; but in this post I want to focus on what we will be presenting regarding IIS and the Microsoft Web Platform.

At both events we will have presence from our teams and attendees will have the opportunity to attend to breakout sessions and experiment with the technologies using the “Hands-on Labs”.

At TechEd we will be featuring:

  • David Lowe, Senior Product Planer in the Windows Server Marketing team will present “Extend Your Web Server: What's New in IIS and the Microsoft Web Platform”. This talk will focus on the new functionality included in IIS 7.5 in the Windows Server 2008 R2 and the Microsoft Web Platform.
  • Bill Staples, General Manager of the IIS Team will be presenting “Microsoft Web Platform Overview”. Bill will show how IT Professionals can get up an running fast with the Web Platform Installer.
  • Thomas Deml, Principal Program Manager and Bernhard Frank, Developer Evangelist will talk about “Streaming with Internet Information Services (IIS) and Windows Media Services”.  This session will provide a deep look into the IIS Media Services, a perspective with the Windows Media Services and several demos showing various IIS Extensions covering IIS Bit Rate Throttling, IIS Web Playlists, IIS Smooth Streaming and IIS Live Smooth Streaming.
  • Thomas and Frank will also be presenting on “Architecting a Scalable WebHosting Platform with Internet Information Services (IIS)” where they will show how to use the available IIS Extensions to deploy an infrastructure using IIS.

At PDC we will have the following sessions:

We are looking forward to connecting with you at these events. Look for the “IIS” or the “Microsoft Web Platform” booths.
