Hello World - Post #1

As I searched across the blog community, both within Microsoft and without, I found very little mention of service management from a process point of view.  So I decided to embark on blogging about that topic as it pertains to MOF / ITIL, but more about "process" and less about "tools".

I will post occasional information on software, but usually as it supports the process, such as Service Monitoring and Control, Change Mgmt, and Configuration Mgmt. (I am sure you can guess which tools I have in mind)  However, the primary focus will be on process, team, and risk.  There are some great management solutions developed by Microsoft that provide customers with sound process direction which we will also discuss.  And of course, I will have posts related to other technologies as well (what Microsoft employee wouldn't?), so subscribe to the categories that best suit you.

A little about me... I am a Senior Consultant in Microsoft Services focusing primarily on MOF, SMS, and MOM.  I have been with Microsoft 4.5 years, all of it spent in the field as a consultant.  I do not represent the product group that develops MOF or Mgmt Solution content, so the opinions expressed here are strictly my own from a practitioner point of view.

Beyond the management realm, I keep up on developments around MSN with Messenger, Spaces, and Desktop Search; Mobility solutions like Pocket PC Phones and Smart Phones; and the Tablet PC.

I look forward to your comments and requests for topics.

Thanks!

Randy
