Vista and DX10 Perf?

Many have asked what Vista will do for perf both with and without DX10 hardware. Considering Vista isn't final yet, we don't actually know what perf will be like on the final version. There are users running FSX on Vista and I don't think they are seeing any perf gain by doing so, but I haven't seen enough data to be certain. Personally I wouldn't expect to see gains without DX10 hardware. As for the perf with hardware, we do have hardware now, and it's locked up behind closed doors as the team figures out how to harness the power. We have several team members with detailed knowledge of DX10, so I'm confident they will do a great job. Everything that has been said about DX10 indicates we should see a significant perf gain, but until we have it running we won't know any specifics. Taking advantage of DX10 is no small feat and will require a lot of hard work to get FSX running great on the hardware, so it will likely be several months before we have any real news on this subject. Of course depending on how hard we actually push the hardware with new graphics features, we may "use up" the power on these new features (depending on where you set your sliders of course). I'm sure more info will flow when there are facts to share.
