Symptoms

Error message “java.lang.RuntimeException: Invalid ObjectServer data type” is returned in the System Center Orchestrator Runbook Designer after the selection of the desired IBM Tivoli Netcool/OMNIbus ObjectServer connection when using one of the activities in the Integration Pack for IBM Tivoli Netcool/OMNIbus.

Cause

The status table of the alerts database in the IBM Tivoli Netcool/OMNIbus NCOMS ObjectServer configuration includes one or more columns of data type "char".

Resolution

The problem can be mitigated as follows:

Delete the column(s) that use the data type of "char" and recreate the column(s) using the data type "varchar".

More Information

This issue is scheduled to be addressed in System Center 2012 Service Pack 1.
