I think it is better than trashing it. I would not worry of someone stealing avalon tech to rival Metro because Metro will fail on its own. &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;It will also be a good act of faith from MS who burned so many devs.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Do the right thing, open source it.&lt;/p&gt;
