I am IT :)

We do not use any VPN, not sure about your reference to double encryption. I will open a case with Microsoft for additional help. We have a monitor server, and when call quality for a user is bad, I usually see round trip and sometimes packetloss issues, but in most cases when the user revert to another technology as a backup, it works without a hitch. It is difficult to defend it under these conditions.

Cheers

Your comparisons seem to be all cloud services. There are many reasons that your Lync calls may not be performing, for instance VPN being required or double encryption. Please contact your IT department or Microsoft Support for assistance. Without a detailed description of your issue, I’m afraid I can’t be of more assistance here

Thank you for the information. We have a large number of remote users, all working from home. The main complaint I hear regarding call quality issues, is that, if a Lync call is poor, the person would switch to Skype or GotoMeeting, and there would be zero issues. Even at my home office, I recently had an issue on my network, where my connection drops low every few minutes, causing periods of silence. If I then take my Vonage phone, and call our conference dialin number (Lync dialin conferencing), I do not have any problems.

I can only attribute this to the codec used for Lync calls and meetings. Are the codecs used for Lync not as resiliant? Lync works wonderful in the office, and at places with quality bandwidth, but for us, with people accross the country and world, it has been a painful experience.

Thanks

There is lot of information generated by both the clients and the server, and it's often difficult to know where to start and what to look for. Thankfully, you've really helped us out here! Thanks again!
