Abstract: System Center Advisor is a free service that helps IT Pros avoid known issues in their Lync deployments as well as other workloads. This post is to announce the support for Lync 2013.

If you’re not already familiar with System Center Advisor (did I mention this is a free service?) please check out our previous posts on the topic:

We are excited to announce that System Center Advisor is now compatible for Lync 2013 environments!

Yes, we have upgraded the System Center Advisor to handle Lync Server 2013 details. Now you can see all the Lync server 2013 related details are discovered by System Center Advisor and you will also receive alerts related to Lync Server 2013.

Some of the important detection we added in this release includes:

  • Lync Server 2013 Front End Server doesn't have at least 8 CPU cores
  • Too few Lync Server 2013 Front End servers in the Enterprise Edition pool
  • Installed memory is less than the recommended value for Lync Server 2013 Front End servers
  • And much more…

What’s needed for full Lync Server 2013 related discovery

New features were introduced in Lync Server 2013 that aren't available in Lync Server 2010. System Center Advisor doesn't recognize these new features when it performs queries against a Lync Server 2010 CMS. For System Center Advisor to fully recognize and report these new features, the CMS server must be hosted by a Lync Server 2013 pool.

If you have mixed Lync environment with Lync server 2010 and Lync server 2013 servers and CMS master in on Lync Server 2010, please plan to move the CMS master role to a Lync server 2013.More details for CMS migration http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj688013.aspx.

If you already have the CMS Master on Lync Server 2013, you are all set to receive alerts related Lync Server 2010 and Lync Server 2013.
