Creating visual representations of your Microsoft Lync Server 2010 communications server topology can be a helpful way to communicate your Lync Server 2010 deployment architecture. Using standard Microsoft Visio stencils helps those in your organization see how traffic flows between server roles and how the distributed elements of the system relate to each other in your Microsoft Lync 2010 architecture. Together, Lync Server and Lync 2010 can be powerfully represented by standard and expressive Visio artwork. You can download the Microsoft Visio stencil for Lync Server from the Download Center.

The download has a wide variety of shapes and lots of them-over 125. Servers, workloads, groups, services, virtual machines, and many more. In Visio, you can copy the shapes, add them to My Shapes, paste them into stencils, and so on. By using this stencil, you can easily build diagrams by using icons that represent the building blocks of Lync Server components, servers, and clients without having to create your own icons. Your diagrams will be consistent with how Microsoft represents Lync Server when you create your own diagrams that represent topologies of Lync Server in your environment.
The Visio stencil provides many shapes to help describe your Lync Server 2010 architecture. I hope that you enjoy using them.
