I spent some time in Building 4 on Microsoft’s main campus last week – this shot is taken from the 2nd floor staircase, overlooking a giant piece of art off to the right and the living wall that sits alongside the stairs.
The building underwent a full scale renovation a little over a year ago which was covered in a video by my friends from Channel 9. It remains one of the coolest buildings on our campus and is home to The Garage and some of the Office team.
Indoor plants is obviousely not a new thing...
Whats the idea behind the "living wall"? What plant is used and how is it "kept alive" without any sunlight? I think its a pretty cool idea. Thanks.
@cyberflake - not sure what plant is used, I'll check on that and report back. the idea is to bring a different vibe to the space I think and it carries over from our Envisioning Lab which has a much larger wall of the same plant. glad you like it!
Reason for asking is we're currently revamping our chill rooms at one of our buildings and I was task to assist with the tech stuff. i.e: xbox, media center, sound, TVs etc. And your pictures is spawning new ideas..
On one of your previous uploaded pictures you see all the Microsoft Hardware on perspex or glass with stainless steel bolts. It looks great and I took that idea to build an "IT milestone timeline" for the company, but instead of just static pictures I'll use "Live Tiles" instead. - You see where I'm going with this :)
Thank you for taking the time to find out regarding the living wall.
