I’ve been waiting for a FourSquare app on Windows 8 to join the splendid 4th and Mayor on Windows Phone and now it’s here – in the form of 4th & Square from Microsoft's Brandon Paddock. The app does everything you’d expect and has some great features that take advantage of the Windows 8 OS. Two of my favorites
Check it out now if you’re running Windows 8.
[note], the app is unrelated to the splendid 4th and Mayor app on Windows Phone by Jeff Wilcox.
I love this free app on Windows Phone! Too bad that I now have to pay for it on Windows 8. Maybe a free ad-sponsored version?
You know this isn't from the maker of 4th and Mayor right? Not the same thing. Shady.
@Roel and Carlo
Hi guys, I'm the author of this app. It has no affiliation with the phone app called "4th and Mayor". After a couple of folks expressed confusion between the two, the author of that app (Jeff Wilcox - great guy) and I met up to discuss the situation. I immediately agreed to make a tweak to the app's name to help further differentiate it from his. That update (which also includes some major UI updates and new features!) is going through the Store certification process now, and should be available in the next few days.
At this time I don't have plans to release an ad-supported version. However, I plan to revisit that idea after seeing how that strategy works out for a couple friends of mine. If I do end up eventually releasing an ad-supported "lite" version it will likely also include some feature limitations.
