Kinect and the “world’s biggest shoe store”

As a man who has more footwear than he’d care to admit to, I don’t know if this is a good thing or a bad thing – a Kinect for Windows powered virtual shoe store. In fact, the creators, Gortz, claim this is the world’s largest shoe store.

The system premiered at Hamburg Central Station recently and employs 3 Kinect sensors to allow you to choose a brand and style of shoe and then have them digitally slipped on to your feet. As befits such as a social activity, you can post images of the shoe fitting to Facebook and buy via your phone with a QR code displayed on screen.

  • Really nice. Kinect is really useful. :)

  • Just like the virtual car showroom item you had earlier, I don't see how this is very useful. Entertaining... gimmicky..., but not useful. I've never bought shoes I haven't walked in.

  • is a great idea to see how the shoe looks like and everything but it doesn't actually assure you that the shoe you have chose would feel as great as they show it. personally i like trying the shoe and checking how it feels and if i would actually see how the shoe feels

  • Awesome, Kinect rules!

  • Yeah, I agree with most others by saying it is more fun that usefull. I could not even think buying shooes I did not try. An other aspect of this which is dramatically bad, is that during the time you get fun to slelect a showes other potential customers are waiting behind in order to make their selection also, and you loose time.
