At TechForum in late February I shared a video regarding a Microsoft Research project called Illumishare and it got picked up quite widely – no surprise as it showed a prototype that enables remote users to share any physical or digital object on any surface.
I recently found two other videos that give a different look at Illumishare. The first, shown above, looks at the gaming potential as two kids show many of the the things they could do with the prototype.
The third video, shot at our TechFest event a few weeks following TechForum, shows a further development of Illumishare to enable a remote meeting attendee on a digital device, such as a slate or tablet PC, to interact with a physical whiteboard in the meeting conference room.
Make this into a product and ship it !!
(that goes for your other awesome stuff too)
If you don't, guess who'll copy it and ship it as their own... google and apple.
This is great, I have been looking for something like this for years. Being able to collaborate digitally with physical surfaces like a whiteboard that you could enable through Skype would be amazing. Do it! Do it!
There are quite a few Kinect hacks out there that can do most of this already if anyone wants a DIY version now.
Please, don't wait until Google of Apple or XYZ or QWERTY or .... will steal it and sell it as their own idea....Please do not repeat the same failures as you did with Surface.
