A lot of people ask me why I write this blog and why I do what I do.
At the heart of what motivates me is what I think my role is as a ‘citizen’. My personal mission is to leave our country -- and the world for that matter -- better off for my children and their children. And there’s nothing more important than health—which touches each of us so personally.
I’ve spent my professional career in the technology industry, and I see tremendous potential for software to transform health – saving lives by improving the way healthcare is delivered and how health is managed - improving health outcomes. But technology alone isn’t the magic bullet . There have to be a lot of other changes –legislative reform, new thinking from both the public and private sectors, and many other factors – to enable software to drive the kind of innovation that will transform the industry.
I came back to Microsoft three years ago because I believed that there was no other company that had the tenacity, culture, innovative approach, resources, and leadership to help drive this change. I do what I do every day because I believe that my efforts will make a difference.
