Help on getting SharePoint 2010 / 2007 installed on Windows 7

It is nice for demos and testing out quick features to install SharePoint platform on your desktop. Here are some sites I found helpful on getting the SharePoint platform installed on my desktop / laptop machine.

A couple things to note:

  • You cannot run both 2007 and 2010 farms on the same machine
  • You will have to setup a instance of SQL Server Express on your machine for SharePoint to create the databases it will need
  • You need x64 Software and Hardware
