For the most part, partners want the same things in their business relationships as they do in their personal relationships. They want predictability. And, because this is a business relationship, they want a bit more.

Can you really boil down partners and partnering to just five words? Below are five words that describe what many partners want and expect:

  • Revenue
  • Recognition
  • Repeatability
  • Risk Reduction

While there are other factors that drive, affect, and determine the ultimate success of a partnership, these five words are at the core of everything.

These are my five words to describe partnering. If you have additional words, I’d like to hear about them in the comments. If you want to share them in person with me, send me a meeting request in WPC Connect tool.

Over the past couple of months, I’ve shared my thoughts about the Worldwide Partner Conference—in Houston next week—and how to get the most out of your attendance. WPC is the chance for partners to connect with partners. It’s the best P2P event for Microsoft partners on the planet. It’s your chance to connect with the People that can help your business grow. It’s your opportunity to engage with the Partners that are as committed to the Microsoft community as you are. And it’s your chance to see the Products from Microsoft and partners that will help you create solutions.

See you in Houston!

  • Thank you for this!

    Repeatability is key indeed.

And you're right, recognition brings in the most important element, the customer.
