Last week, my worldwide counterparts announced a reimagined experience around the 2013 Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference (WPC). Not only is early-bird registration for the conference open now, but the Digital WPC website and WPC Connect community both sport a fresh new look and approach, offering you a better online experience as you prepare for the conference, in Houston, Texas from July 7–11.

I’m excited about the changes Kati Quigley and her team have implemented, and the U.S. team is continuing its close collaboration with them to take best advantage of these tools to connect with you over the next few months as we travel down the road to Houston.

Attending WPC is the best way to get a firsthand look at the Microsoft products and technologies road map. Every year I'm amazed at how much information is presented in the keynotes and sessions, not to mention the opportunities to connect and share with Microsoft executives, team members, and other partners. There's a deep sense of working—and winning—together. We’re expecting more than 16,000 attendees this year, and with that many Microsoft partners and experts in one place, WPC will be both dynamic and inspiring. From Sunday through Thursday, there are myriad opportunities to share experiences, make connections, be recognized, and get new ideas for building your business.

The U.S. team is finalizing plans for U.S.-specific sessions, a partner celebration, a diversity event, and more, and I look forward to bringing you updates about our plans here on our blog and through the U.S. Partner Community. I’ll be traveling to Houston later this month with our U.S. WPC lead, Jason Leonardelli, and fellow team members.

Here are three things you can do now to start preparing for what is shaping up to be an amazing event in Houston—I hope to see you there!

imageA is for Awards. Each year, the winners and finalists of the Partner of the Year Awards are recognized at WPC. Receiving a Partner of the Year Award positions your company for new business opportunities, generates press coverage, and can lead to more market recognition. Award categories include:

  • Applications
  • Citizenship
  • Cloud
  • Competency
  • Microsoft Dynamics
  • Public Sector
  • Sales Excellence
  • U.S. Country Partner of the Year

Download the guidelines, rules, and tips from the judges, and start preparing your answers and supporting documents now. The self-nomination tool opens February 22. Details at http://aka.ms/wpc13awards.

imageB is for the (Early) Birds. For a limited time, you can save $200 on your all-access pass by registering to attend WPC now, paying just $1,795 (offer ends April 5). If your company plans to have four or more people attend, there is an additional $200 refund for registration fees that qualify for the Group Registration Discount. Details and terms conditions for both offers are at http://aka.ms/wpc13reg.

imageC is for Content.  Keynotes and sessions at WPC 2013 will feature content that focuses on these four areas of the modern era of computing:

Big Data – The Modern Business. Increase business success through data-driven decision making.

Cloud – The Modern Data Center. Reduce costs, increase efficiency and productivity.

Mobility – The Modern Consumer. Provide secure and managed solutions.

Social – The Modern Employee. Empower interaction.

The Agenda at a Glance at http://aka.ms/wpc13agenda provides you an overview of how the conference is organized, with Registration, Expo, and WPC Connect starting on Sunday, and sessions planned until mid-day on Thursday.
