Today, I want to give you a preview of the U.S. party at WPC 2012 that we have been planning for the past several weeks. It’s one of the most fun aspects of my role as the U.S. WPC lead—getting to finalize the details of this event that celebrates U.S. partners. I’m so happy about the location, the entertainment, the cool ways we’ll be using technology at the party.
Everything is shaping up to make it an amazing event. RSVP on Facebook, mark your calendar for Tuesday, July 10 from 6:30pm-8:30pm, and join us!
Location, Location, Location
Our party will be at the Roy Thomson Symphony Hall, a Toronto landmark located in the heart of the King Street district. The building, built in 1982, is a big, sloping glass circle—a really beautiful design. Roy Thomson Hall is the home of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and is the premier venue for gala screenings of the Toronto International Film Festival. Inside, we’ll have themed areas that will enhance mingling and networking, and there’s also a beautiful outside terrace overlooking a water display.
We’re bringing back the social media walls we had at last year’s party in Los Angeles, where you can broadcast texts and tweets for everyone to see. This year, you’ll have the option of adding an avatar to your messages, to personalize things. We’ll also have Xbox 360 Kinect gaming areas set up, and Skype stations, where you can connect with people back home.
About 3,000 people will be at this year’s U.S. partner celebration. We’ve scheduled it right after the last WPC session of the day on Tuesday, July 10, starting at 6:30pm. Roy Thomson Hall is only one block from the Convention Centre, making it easy and convenient to start your evening there. We’ve decided to make it an appetizer and cocktail event that lasts just two hours, so there will be time to attend other parties later, or to take advantage of the dining, theatre, and entertainment available right there in the King Street district of Toronto. For a unique and fun way to get to your next party, dinner, or other activity, you might want to try the streetcar. The King streetcar (Route 504) stops at the corner of King Street and Simcoe Street.
Just after WPC ends this year, Toronto will host North America’s largest Caribbean street festival, Caribana 2012. This three-week festival attracts over a million tourists each year. Thousands of calypso, steel pan, soca, reggae, hip hop, jazz, and salsa performers and masqueraders will descend on Toronto beginning July 17. What could be more festive? We’re bringing some of those performers to the Roy Thomson Hall to add some Caribbean flavor to our celebration—it promises to be lively and fun.
Planning this year’s U.S. partner celebration is a true pleasure for me—it’s our opportunity to say “thank you for being a Microsoft partner” in a relaxed setting, and spend time with you. It’s going to be a great time together. I look forward to seeing you there!
Wow! This sounds great! I can't wait!
It will be a fun event Justin! There will be many more surprises we didn't list here. Look forward to celebrating YOU and our US Partners!! We appreciate you!!
