Differentiate Your Company by Marketing Your Competencies

The exclusivity of having earned a Microsoft competency lets you market yourself in a specific way. Did you know only 5% of Microsoft partners worldwide have attained a competency? We want to make it easy for you to build a presence in the market, by making your competency credentials visible to prospects and customers. This is a great time to build your business presence and promote your competency achievements, and we have two new marketing campaigns to help you.

#1: “Find an IT Expert” Microsoft Digital Web Campaign

imageWe have just kicked off a digital web campaign for customers to help increase their awareness of the Microsoft Partner Network. This campaign shows the value of choosing to work with partners who have achieved one or more Microsoft competencies and drives customers to find an IT expert on Microsoft Pinpoint. At right is an example of creative customers will see online.

Earning a competency prioritizes your ranking in Microsoft Pinpoint. Make sure your Pinpoint profile showcases your company and solutions in the best light. Spend time reviewing and editing your profile, using our search optimization tips so you can increase your exposure to new customer prospects. My colleague, Tina Hanson, writes the Pinpoint Pointers blog series, regularly providing insightful tips about Pinpoint and sharing best practices from other partners.

#2: “Promote Your Competencies” Campaign

To help amplify our efforts that encourage customers to find an IT expert with Microsoft competencies, you can use imagematerials from our new Ready-to-Go Marketing campaign to promote your competency achievements to customers and prospects in your own marketing efforts. Our robust set of materials includes website assets, press release kit, copy blocks, and presentations. Get acquainted with the campaign materials by downloading and reading the guidance document. Additionally, you will find a short video featuring Jenni Flinders, Vice President of the Microsoft U.S. Partner Group, speaking about why a customer should work with a technology partner who has a Microsoft competency that you can embed into your own website.

I hope you’ll take advantage of these two opportunities to showcase your capabilities and expertise to customers and prospects. In my next post, I’ll share more of the competency benefits you may not be aware of that can help bring your business more customers and shorten your sales cycle.

  • I totally agree.  As a business consultant for MSPs and Microsoft Partners I always coach my clients that they need to make sure that all their technical expertise or vertical knowledge is promoted and highlighted with everything they do.
