What does support, switchers and French Business schools have in common? They are all a part of This Week in BPOS News. You can catch up on all our weekly BPOS news segments here.

1. Microsoft Support Sets Us Apart

Barbara Gordon, Corporate V.P. of Microsoft Customer Service and Support, provides a guest post on the Official Microsoft blog to draw attention to the support infrastructure established at Microsoft. Microsoft support has large teams throughout most business groups that deal with and resolve customer issues. Any software developer’s first goal is to create a bug free product and experience, but if something breaks down, it’s nice to know that support is there.

The launch of Office 2010 earlier this month prompted Barbara to express her thoughts about what makes Microsoft different than other companies. “When was the last time you called Google for help recovering a lost Google Doc? Were you even able to find a number? My guess is, no.” The blog points out the long history of working with consumers to deliver support for Microsoft products including Office and SharePoint. But Office 2010 isn’t the only supported product.

Just this week I was also reminded why Microsoft Support really matters to customers. I received a tweet on the @MSOnline twitter account about our service.

Whether you need assistance with Microsoft Office or BPOS, it’s nice to know that someone is there to help. Do you have a support story you would like to share with us? Leave a comment below, email us or send a tweet.

2. Microsoft BPOS Hinders the Market of Google Apps

This is a great article from Techgenie.com that dives into the current market trend of cloud computing. Do you remember the Apple “Switchers” campaign? This article points out the correlation between that campaign and the current movement of users switching from Google Apps to Microsoft Business Productivity Online Services. The post refers to the Customer Stories that we posted in the past that voices the experience of different companies switching to Microsoft BPOS.

I think this a market trend that is blooming from users stepping into the real world and seeing that Google Apps can’t take them as far as Microsoft BPOS. This trend is on the rise and won’t be slowing down anytime soon.

3. Business School Swaps Google Apps for Microsoft Live@edu

For our last post this week, we look at an example of our second news piece mentioned above. Skema is a French business school with multiple locations world-wide. The school will make the switch form Google Apps to Microsoft Live@edu. “Skema describes itself as a pioneer in the use of online collaboration tools for its work.” Skema currently runs software developed by Microsoft, and the switch will allow them to easily integrate and harmonize with pre-existing data and systems. This is just one of many schools choosing BPOS.
