In response to customer feedback, the Microsoft Online Services engineering team is developing the Outlook 2003 Connector. This is an Outlook add-in that will enable customers to use Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 to access all the features of Exchange Online. This includes free/busy information when setting up meetings, and the ability to access your organization’s global address list (GAL) from Outlook when you're offline. The add-in is currently in private beta testing with selected MVPs, Partners, and customers, and we’re ready to broaden the audience.
UPDATE: As of December 2009, the Microsoft Exchange Online Connector for Office Outlook 2003 is now released. You can download this connector from the Microsoft Download Center at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=604a539a-5ec1-4fb2-a3cf-60076aa17618.

I updated the blog post to provide information so people can join the Outlook 2003 Connector pilot program immediately, without waiting for an e-mail reply.
What I need is free/busy for my Entourage clients. I won't be able to move to Exchange Online unless we can provide this functionality.
We have too many Mac clients to make the jump.
Hi Sean,
I have some good news for you. Entourage 2008 EWS will support Outlook Free/Busy. I believe that it is available now. If you install the Mac sign-in application and use its Configure Applications feature after installing Entourage 2008 EWS, Free/Busy should just work!
Entourage 2008 EWS uses the same calls that Outlook Web Access uses along with your Microsoft Online Services credentials to find your mailbox and retrieve Free/Busy information.

We are a Microsoft Partner and need the latest Beta for implementation in a client's test environment.
Yes, I want to use Outlook 2003 with Exchange Online
how used Office 2003 with Exchange Online?
I am currently rolling out BPOS globally (Africa & Asia) What else can I do to improve Outlook 2003/2007 performance globally? Is there a white paper? Will this connector make a big difference to my global 2003 users?
Many of the countries I work with are low-bandwidth. (Ethiopia, Malawi, Vietnam, Cambodia)
Thanks
John
Hi,
We're on the verge of a Win7 x64 & x86 deployment.
Management doesn't want to invest in new office lic. for the time being (we're currently on Office 2003).
Will the Outlook 2003 connector work with both versions of win 7 ?
If not is there any projected date for an win 7 compatible ver. release.
Thanks,
Gal
Are you sure Outlook 2003 can do free/busy? It's not working for anyone in my office, and "Yes I've installed the connector" and "Yes I've clicked the Configure All" button in the Single Sign On app.
Thanks!
Outlook COnnector making no difference in our organisation. Have installed connector and reconfigured apps in SSO - still no free.busy and calendars painfully slow. Any ideas ?
