Over the last three months we’ve been actively promoting the competency changes which arrived on the 19th November. These changes signal the largest update to competencies since the Microsoft Partner Network launched.
Why Change the Competencies? I won’t go into detail, but this blog post sums up the key reasons for their evolution.
For your benefit, I’ve outlined two competencies which have gone through significant changes:
Collaboration and Content Competency
SharePoint competencies merged to form the new Collaboration and Content competency.
This merger provides you with the opportunity to deliver solutions for your customers. Solutions that make it easier for people to work together, to think beyond initial collaboration deployments and realise the full business value of their SharePoint investment, including advanced capabilities such as social networking, Enterprise Search and implementing Business-Critical processes based on line-of-business data surfaced in SharePoint.

Application Development Competency
The Independent Software Vendor (ISV), Web Development and Software Development competencies have merged to form the new structured competency called Application Development.
Application Development gives you the opportunity to differentiate your business as a trusted expert in, yep you guessed it, application development. This provides you with a fantastic opportunity to showcase your skills alongside the recent launches of Windows 8, Windows Server, and Visual Studio 2012 and by the emerging cloud-based and Web business models.
