Just seen this great case study of the BBC and their Enterprise Search work with Microsoft. Some of the great quotes I liked were the following:
BBC Worldwide stated that:
"Searching for information on the Internet is easy, but searching enterprise data isn’t so simple because of the limited desktop tool set. For anyone to search for a single document from a total of 15 million files is unrealistic" “With Microsoft® Enterprise Search, we won’t need any specialist hardware, which would be necessary with a point solution. A major benefit is also that any investment made in search functions will now integrate easily with new Microsoft products such as Windows Vista™, which is the next desktop operating system we are planning to invest in”
