Increasing women’s participation in science and engineering is a lifelong passion of Dr. Maria Klawe, who joined the Microsoft board of directors last year. A distinguished computer scientist and president of Harvey Mudd College, a top liberal-arts college of engineering, science and mathematics, Dr. Klawe recently sat down for an interview with Microsoft employees. The video is one in a series posted on Microsoft’s Channel 9 featuring women at Microsoft who have interesting stories to share about their success in the industry and ideas on how to grow diversity in IT.
In her interview, Dr. Klawe discusses how she became a computer scientist and what it’s like being a Microsoft board member – which she describes as a learning experience comparable to earning a second Ph.D.
