The needs of students and staff in the education space are radically changing. We are excited to share the story of IMC University of Applied Sciences Krems in Austria and how the university’s use of Microsoft tools is changing the lives of students and educators.
The university saved about $40,000 in tech service costs by upgrading to Office 2010, SharePoint 2010 and Exchange 2010 – but the real benefit is the positive impact on students. “I spent a semester in France as an exchange student at a different school, which doesn’t use SharePoint, Exchange of Office on campus; I had to print out my schedule and the lack of tools made it more difficult to keep track of school information,” said Daniela Bach, a Student BA at IMC FH Krems. IMC University recently improved its education and administrative processes with the following Microsoft productivity solutions: • Deployed Office 2010 and SharePoint Server 2010 to create student/professor workspaces and paperless administrative processes.• Continued use of Exchange Server 2010 for access to e-mail, tasks, and contacts for all students and staff.
Also, the university plans to upgrade from Office Communications Server 2007 R2 to Lync 2010 for improved communication and collaboration between students, teachers and administrative staff. The school also expects to extend its online services to university alumni with deployment of Office 365 when available. See the full story and watch the video below for more information.
