Microsoft Indonesia is collaborating with the City Government of Yogyakarta to launch the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Zone in Taman Pintar, Yogyakarta. The construction of such a technology-centric area is to facilitate the growth of Indonesia through technology, leading to greater efficiency in teaching and learning.

With educational games teaching math, physics and culture, the ICT Zone will be the educational arm of technology in Taman Pintar – a place where people can freely interact with a variety of technologies. Visitors can experience the wonders of outer space through the Worldwide Telescope, a software astronomy game on Microsoft Xbox® and Kinect™, and surf the Internet with computers installed with the Microsoft Learning Suite.

As Indonesia is greatly dependent on its youth to boost the nation’s growth, the government has always placed education as its highest priority. Today’s Indonesian youths have to be better equipped with the latest skills in technology to be able to succeed and enjoy greater opportunities in the future. Hence, Microsoft is enthusiastic about the construction of the ICT Zone, knowing that technology can play a vital role in improving the educational standards in Indonesia.

With the ICT Zone, Microsoft shows that technology can be used to learn about science in a more engaging manner. This can also encourage creativity and greater appreciation for technology in youths. As part of the “Microsoft Partners in Learning” program, Microsoft has collaborated with local education agencies in Yogyakarta to give teachers a platform to exchange best practices and create innovative teaching materials through ICT. This collaboration with the government will strengthen Indonesia’s future.

"Microsoft Indonesia aims to accelerate the growth of Indonesia to its fullest potential by encouraging economic, social and environmental progress. We believe that innovation and technology are two important elements for growth, and only by working together, Indonesia will then be known as a knowledge-based society,” said Manish Chopra, Marketing & Operation Director, Microsoft Indonesia.
