Today’s edition of the Daily Update has a stories on Skype as well as profiles on some of the employees involved with the Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing, which is being held in Baltimore, Maryland from Oct. 3 to Oct. 6.

In celebration of World Teacher's Day on Friday, we're taking one more step to help make kids' dreams become more of a reality. We're excited to announce that we're adding six fantastic organizations to Skype in the classroom: NASA's Digital Learning Network™, The National Museum of the Royal Navy and HMS Victory, British Council, Woodland Trust, VerbalizeIt, Action Aid, Education through Expedition and Choose2Matter. These organizations will join our many existing affiliates to help enrich the educational experiences of teachers and students worldwide. You can read more about it over on The Big Blog.

In a blog post earlier this morning, Next at Microsoft Editor Steve Clayton profiled Kate Tsoukalas, a tester on the browser user experience team of Windows Phone. Kate is among a handful of women scheduled to speak at the Grace Hopper conference this week. And in this post on the Microsoft Research Connections Blog, you’ll hear from Rane Johnson-Stempson, Principal Research Director for Education and Scholarly Communication, Microsoft Research Connections, and Katie Doran, an intern at Microsoft Research Connections.
