Message Analyzer Beta3 Refresh has Been Released (Build 6215)

We have refreshed the Beta3 with some feature updates, bugs fixes and performance improvements; please reference the original release blog for more details about Beta3.

However, the main reason for the refresh was to address compatibility issues with the Windows 8.1 release. Here are a list of other updates in the Message Analyzer refresh.

Multiple Instances Improvements – While it worked in the past, there were some issues when running multiple instances of Message Analyzer that might cause crashes and data inconsistencies. So now we have made some changes to be handle issues for data that is shared between instances.

WPP ETW Improvements – With Beta3 we introduced the ability to parse WPP logs, but it required you to have debug PDB files in order to resolve symbol information. Now we also support TMFs which is an alternate and popular format for storing the symbol information need to decode WPP based ETL logs.

USB Parsers for Windows 8.1 – Updates have been made to support new USB components specific to Windows 8.1.

Again, we really need your support and testing to insure we release a stable product. So please download the Beta 3 refresh by signing into and join the Message Analyzer project in order to see the download.

  • Windows 7 SP1 wiped out my system data. I will wait!

  • Well, it was a pre release. Kind of my fault. I knew better. I'd rather have a rollback option that I am positive will work

  • Install never completes on a Windows 7 sp1 Enterprise. Installed successfully on a W2K8 r2. Works well. Like the improvements to the Diagnostics window and the other new controls. Any plans to add pcapng or at least pcap file formats as Save As options?

  • Why do i see only 2012 dated packages in the download session?

    this build announced here is not available?

  • The above problem can be fixed by:

    Click Directory on top of the page

    ==> "Message Analyzer, Network Monitor and Protocol Test Suites" --> Join

    the downloads will be visible after this proccess

  • How to enable WPP decoding - I have PDB file and TMF files but don't know how to provide these to Message Analyzer?
