Hot on the heels of the announcements around the beta of SP1 for Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows 7, 2 new videos have been published to TechNet Edge, showcasing firstly, the upcoming Dynamic Memory, and secondly, RemoteFX.

And the second video…

Looking forward to getting my hands on the beta!  Less than 2 months to go!  All I have to do now is hope it plays nicely with other other technologies around it… ;-)

  • Sweet - excellent feature

  • I left a comment yesterday where I wondered a bit more about Dynamic Memory but it's gone now.

Are you using moderation or a spam filter or did it disappear for other reasons? ;)

  • Hi Martin,

I have to approve all comments, but even if the system 'thinks' they're spam, it tells me there is a comment awaiting approval.  What did you have on your mind?

    Let me know!

    Cheers,

  • Hi Matt.

I was just wondering what would happen if the server in the demo above only had 4 Gb of physical RAM to use and both VMs require 4 Gb each. Would Hyper-V try and give both machines 4 Gb each or would it base the decision on priority and similar parameters and only serve up as much memory as it actually has available (i.e. not use disk swapping)?

Our company have a lot of VMware expertise so I am trying to figure out how DM compares to VMwares offerings in memory management so that I can explain DM in a way that my colleagues can relate to.

    Thanks!
