Are you in IT? Thinking about getting into IT? Where do you start? How do you develop in the future? If you’re already in IT, how do you build on your investments so far?
These are just some of the questions that are answered at ‘Thrive’; a new website from Microsoft, designed to help you, the IT Pro, drive yourself, your career, and your business, forward into the future, through the help of IT.
On the website, you’ll find information around Microsoft training, certification, why they are both valuable, and how you can use them to maximise your potential. There’s even stuff around your C.V, body language in interviews, career self assessment tools and more. Definitely worth a look!
You’re probably thinking, why Matt, is this relevant to your blog? Well, Virtualisation is without doubt, one of the hottest areas in IT, and when I left University (only 4 years ago, before you comment!), did I have a clue what it was? NOPE! I didn’t know about Virtual PC, Virtual Server, VMware ESX, GSX (as it was then), VMware Workstation, Citrix, etc etc, yet now, I love it. It’s one of the few technologies that can pretty much guarantee companies to save money, yet at the same time, gain added agility, flexibility, and control. For me, virtualisation is a win all round, and the ‘Thrive’ site reflects this.
There are lots of virtualisation resources, ranging from video screencasts of technologies (not as good as mine ;-p), along with tools and resources such as Green IT Calculators, ROI tools, and Capacity Planning solutions. Great stuff.
