Thank you for taking the time to respond. I am hoping for a vast improvement in speed over my old system, which is why the i7 looks appealing, but waiting several months with a very slow system is wearisome. A call to Lenovo did not reveal anything on the i7 horizon.

Mark, overall I'm very happy with my purchase. Installing Vista was a breeze. Had to use nLite to get XP to install without a floppy drive. The Intel ICH9R SAS/SATA controller was a a bit of trouble but not once I got the driver right.

I did add a quad core processor and an EVGA GTX 260 video card. No problems. No heat issues. I'm actually using the stock HSF with some Arctic Silver 5.

Great build quality on the system overall. Quiet. Worth the slight price premium if you want a quiet, fast system with a 3 year warranty.

As far as i7 goes yeah, they're fast and the latest greatest thing but I guess it depends on just how long you want to wait.

How would you advise someone who is considering a purchase of a Lenovo ThinkStation S10 at this time? Should I postpone my purchase until Lenovo releases an Intel® Core™ i7 Processor product? Your thoughts are greatly appreciated.

I picked one one up for a new home gaming and SOHO build. Sortof missed the Intel i7 boat (realized that today) but I'm going to put my own Core 2 Quad into it with a GTX 260 video card and 4GB RAM, 500GB SATA RAID1 will be plenty fast. Should be a smoker with a warranty!

I should have been a little clearer on how loud the system is. At the initial boot all the fans kick off and it is an interesting noise, after a few minutes it does quiet down, but the first time you hear it, it does sounds like a blender.

When I unpacked the unit Matt evaluated in my home office, I thought it was a little too noisy for my home office setting. It didn't seem to bother Matt, but he usually has his Xbox 360 on and all sorts of stuff.

I need a Db meter to record the levels for this type of discussion. At least them we would know what people think is acceptable or not.

Jon, do you have 15,000rpm SAS drives in yours?

I have one on my desk, and it's more quiet than pretty much every desktop I've used.
