In prior versions of Windows Server you had the ability to cluster or use split scopes to provide failover. In Windows Server 2012, there are two new methods to provide this failover capability. Windows Server 2012 DHCP servers can be configured in either a Hot Standby ( Active / Passive ) or Load Balanced ( Active / Active ). Take a look at Keith’s full post here:
