Good day everyone!
Welcome to the December book of the month,  QBQ The Question Behind the Question by John G. Miller

Are you tired of asking (out loud or to yourself) or hearing questions like these:

          • Why do we have to go through all this change?
          • Who dropped the ball?
          • When is somebody going to train me?
          • When is that department going to do it's job?

Then this book is for you!  This excellent book  focuses on taking personal accountability in your work and personal life. Ultimately this book works on changing your mind-set when faced with challenges.  It gives you the tools to think of another way to ask the questions above and get to the question behind the question.  It allows you to take charge and  to focus on what you can do.

For example take a look at the question: When is somebody going to train me? Does this question sound positive? How would people around you perceive this question or you?  Does this question leave you at the mercy of others?  Most likely you will run the risk of being perceived as negative or even worse a whinnner.  Speaking from experience this is a tough perception to overcome, and BTW yes you can overcome the perception!  I am sure that no one wants to have those perceptions assigned to them.  What can you do, it is simple take the question above and turn the focus to you.  The question now becomes: What can I do to develop myself? Does this sound a little more positive? Does it give you a sense of ownership?  Isn't that cool!?  You can take any question and apply the methods in the book to empower you and allow you to take charge.  Instead of spinning cycles trying to figure out who is going solve an issue, it allows you to focus on what you can do to overcome challenges.

This lesson seems so simple, but every now and again we need a swift kick to be reminded of the simple lessons.  :-)

Quite frankly this book has all kinds of benefits in my life.  I have applied these principles in my everyday life to help me become a better co-worker, a better father, and a better man.  So if you want to take charge and learn how you can improve the world around you, take a look at this fantastic book!
