I got a new computer yesterday! I’ve been working with Vista now for a long time but it’s time to start preparing for Longhorn so I got a more powerful one, a Lenovo X60 with 4 GB of RAM. I picked it up at Microsoft helpdesk and they were so happy to inform me that they installed Vista for me. I told them that I was going to reinstall it with Windows Server and they got a strange look in their faces and told me that they don’t support server installations on laptops. I just smiled at them and went back to my place. I started my installation but needed to specify drivers for my disks and the only way to do that was with a floppy disk. Hmm, I don’t even remember how they look like so I went back to helpdesk and asked them if they had an external floppy drive that I could borrow. This time they got really confused but managed to find an external floppy in some box. So even if I don’t have the geekiest look at Microsoft I now managed to convince the helpdesk people that I am a bit geeky J
Well, so far the installation is doing all right so I will probably install my first Longhorn vmc later today!
Hi, may I know where can download Longhorn vmc ?
You can't download Longhorn as a public Beta yet but f you have a TechNet Plus subscription you can download an early version.
More information about the subscription on: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/subscriptions/default.aspx
You probbely don't need the floppy, You can plug in a USB memory stick or an external hdd and load the drivers from there. ;) Keep up the good work.
I actually tried with a USB stick at first but with no luck...
So, does running a vmc under server2003 let directX do its thing with full acceleration, or is it still the emulated directX-7 compatible card?
Bring your laptop here. I bet I can make it work :-P
It's working just fine and everything is installed by now... But maybe I should pretend it's not just to get a chance to visit you in Kuching :)
