This week Microsoft announced something we call the VHD Test Drive Program. The program gives our customers the opportunity to download pre-configured virtual hard disks to use together with Virtual Server 2005 R2. You can simply download the disks and test them for 30 days, which should be enough since installation isn't necessary. ( If you have an MSDN or a TechNet subscription you can use them as long as your license agreement it valid.)
You can download e.g. Exchange Server 2007 and test the new GUI, the new management features and the new Outlook Web Access. For partners this also gives the opportunity to deliver your prebuilt virtual machines with your applications or configurations to your customers. More information about the program can be found here and you can download Virtual Server 2005 R2 and a set of VHD’s at www.microsoft.com/vhd
What are you waiting for, let's go for a test drive ;)
Can I test drive CODENAME-"Longhorn"?
Not for now, but I'm sure you will be able to when we get to a later Beta-version. To look for availible VHD's, the best resource is www.microsoft.com/vhd
