Microsoft has confirmed that Windows 7 E, a version  that was meant to ship without Internet Explorer 8 installed, would never see the light of day.

After doing a little digging, we found out that the browser ballot screen would arrive as an update and that Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7 users in the EU would all get it.
