As you may have noticed, Microsoft Mediaroom to date has not followed any specific Support Lifecycle policy. To rectify that situation, a new Support Lifecycle policy for Microsoft Mediaroom has been established.

Microsoft Mediaroom is a complex product as it combines a wide variety of Major Products (such as Windows Server, SQL Server, System Center Operations Manager) in the Microsoft family and tailors them to meet the needs of a number of companies that deliver media to subscribers around the world.

As of September 2010, Microsoft Mediaroom will be providing the various software products under the banner of Microsoft Mediaroom System Software five years of support or two years after the successor system release is provided -- whichever is longer.

Version 1.1 of the System Software includes the following:

Microsoft Mediaroom Software:

  • Microsoft Mediaroom Server 1.1SP2
  • Microsoft Mediaroom Server 1.1SP3.0
  • Microsoft Mediaroom Client 1.2
  • Microsoft Mediaroom Server 1.1SP3.2 (includes CP1, CP2 and CP3)
  • Microsoft Mediaroom Client 1.6

Microsoft Core Element Software:

  • Microsoft Systems Management Server 2003 SP3
  • Microsoft Operations Manager 2005 SP1
  • Microsoft Windows Server 2003 SP2 (includes Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1)
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2005 SP3
  • Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 SP2
  • Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 SP2
  • Microsoft Systems Center Configuration Manager 2007 R2
  • Microsoft Systems Center Operation Manager 2007 R2

With Microsoft Mediaroom System Software 1.1 and later versions following standard Microsoft Support Lifecycle policies, Mediaroom customers can expect more consistent and predictable support policies and timelines for these products.

For Microsoft Mediaroom 1.1 System Software, many releases will reach the end of support in October 2011 and customers are encouraged to migrate to supported versions before that time.

Further details on this announcement and the support timelines are available on the MSL website: http://support.microsoft.com/gp/mediaroom
