Could you provide additional info where to find which processors does support SLAT?
great article , why vmware has more updates is because vmware esx/esxi hypervisor has the virtual machines' drivers included in the hypervisor , so when u need an update for the drivers u update the hypervisor which requires rebooting of al the hosts as infact you remove the old hypervisor and replace it with a new one
Thanks Mohamed. I understand WHY - but you can tell here by their messasing they lead people to believe just the opposite. My point with this article is, everyone patches and with features live Live Migration and vMotion, patching really shouldn't be an issue. When they focus on size and correlate that to the number of patches required - that's misleading and the evidence clearly shows that.
Appreciate you stopping by.
...update from me. It's been several weeks now since I updated my Hyper-V hosts with this patch - no problems at all!!
Ideally any Nehalem processor (desktop equivalent Core I and the Server/Workstation Xeon Class variant and above have EPT) and for AMD Barcelona/Shanghai and above have NPT.
Update folks - a patch for this will be available in CU4. It will fix the PRO integration issue.
Quick update...a patch for the PRO integration issue will be available in CU4.
Hi I am just getting this setup myself and installed SCVMM and been using that for a while all things hunky dory. I have just installed SSP 2.0 and attempting to configure the settings after initial install and import VM templates from the VMM server and it just doesn't see the server.
It's all on the same machine.
Hey Andy - not sure what the problem could be there. Just for grins, you might try grabbing 2.0 SP1 beta which was recently released on connect. I've got my portal setup on a seperate VM but didn't have any problems getting it to connect to SCVMM. Are you using the FQDN...not just the hostname? I know mine didn't work when I wasn't using the FQDN.
connect.microsoft.com/.../program5055
Great info!
Also works on Server core, I see, but since the resource monitor is not available on Server core, is there a way to view how many (or which) cores are parked on a server core box ?
KEN! Nice to see your name.
That's great news, we've been running CentOS under Hyper-V for a while. Any news when the Integration Components will support RHEL & CentOS 6?
The 2.1 version (and 2.0) version support RHEL. I'm running Cent 5.5 with the 2.0 IC's in my lab.
Thanks! I've eagerly waiting...
No, its not working. After signing in (with liveID associated with MSP) there is just "Home page" but nothing to download or read.
