Breaking News from MMS 2011: SCVMM 2012 Beta is RTW!

Today at the 2011 Microsoft Management Summit Microsoft announced the availability of the BETA of the next version of System Center Virtual Machine Manager – SCVMM 2012

Oh wow… several things I’ve seen, just off the top of my head:

• The ability to compose virtual machines from not only hardware and software profiles, but also applications. 
• Being able to compose an entire service, built of a template that has, for example, different tiers of a multi-tiered application, with definitions of the number (and a numeric range) of instances of machines, with the load balancer and networking all configured as a part of the deployment.  Drag your machine templates in place and LAUNCH.  Amazing.
• Adding support for managing Citrix XenServer virtualization, alongside of VMware and Microsoft Hyper-V.
