Windows Vista to RTM in July?

Yep.  I blame myself.

Vista

If Windows Vista heads to OEMs on July 25th, 2006, then I’m responsible.  I, like many Microsoft employees, am running new Windows Vista builds whenever I get the chance.  And I’m submitting bugs as I find them.  Heck… most of the time I’m submitting bugs I don’t even KNOW I’m submitting bugs.  (The system is WAY smart about sending back information when things stop, hang, crash, or even faintly hiccup.)

But according to http://www.thehotfix.net/ and others, unofficially (and as yet unconfirmed by Microsoft as far as I know), July 25th is when Windows Vista will be available to OEMs so they can start testing and building systems in time for the 2006 Holiday season.

I'm currently playing with 5247.  What build are you running?

  • Waiting for 5231 x64 to install currently. Taking really long for some reason.

  • 5321 x86 IDW Candidate 3

Had some video driver issues with my Radeon 9700 since 5247--had to turn off glass :(

  • I sure have had driver issues here and there... mostly though they're improving. And I am not one of the lucky souls who has 64 bit hardware. (Hey.. do me a favor and email my boss. Tell her that we all need 64 bit machines for doing the SQL Launch events! That's mbrunne@microsoft.com. :)

  • how confident are you that it ships in July?

a July ship date would be inline with Microsoft's comments of a "second half 2006" shipment, but would be materially earlier than the public view that it will ship in December.

    thanks!

  • hey where did you guys get those release dates? Can specify the source? I wanna confirm because a few days ago i got an email from the folks at www.winvistasecrets.com saying the same thing :)
