Some of the revamps on the retail sites have made them almost impossible to use.

I see from the few screenshots that it uses Silverlight. Please, please please, make sure we don't suffer the ever soooooo long delays that the retail sites suffer from. I, and I believe many people, will get bored waiting if whole pages or chunks of Silverlight code are constantly reloaded (ala aspx).

re: TechNet 2.0 – Episode 1 – Core Scenarios and Branding

I'm glad TechNet is getting a well overdue revamping. Based on your comments I think you're on track for what needs to be refined. However, one feature I'd like to see developed is guided simulators for installing and managing Microsoft software, particularly the server-based applications. Most IT people have had their budgets cut to nothing and we cannot afford to attend costly week-long training sessions that are more aligned with getting certified than learning a new product. With virtualization becoming more ubiquitous, Microsoft has an opportunity to help IT staff learn how to install and use their products in a safe environment and practice the skills they need to deploy Microsoft's products in a real-world environment. Something to consider as part of your TechNet 2.0 experiment.

re: TechNet 2.0 – Episode 1 – Core Scenarios and Branding

Hi, i think this is beautiful for microsoft users, there is a forum i see. i am not an it pro but i can search about .net or asp. this is very helpful site for internet users. thanks again.

re: TechNet 2.0 – Episode 1 – Core Scenarios and Branding

Thanks for the podcast and for the updates by email.
A common problem is finding a reference (e.g. in a newsgroup, forum or blog) and finding that the target has been moved and the reference (hyperlink) is broken. Then I have to waste more time trying to track down where it now is.

Also, some documentation that was available is disappearing. For example, the wonderful document (robocopy.doc) that was part of the Server 2003 Resource Kit. Although robocopy is now included in Windows Server 2008 and 2008 R2, that, or an equivalent document, is not. The documentation in the Technet Library for robocopy is incomplete - for example, it does not list the exit codes, nor does it have the complete and useful explanations that were included in robocopy.doc. This is very unfortunate and backward step.

I'm not a fan of blogs because, for one thing, there are too many to follow. Also, in most cases, if I find a reference to an interesting blog article and follow the link, that article is not displayed. Instead, the "current" entry is displayed and there is no way to easily find the article of interest. The index is almost always by date, not subject, which is no help at all and there is no table of contents. So, again, I have waste my time trying to find the information I thought I had already located.

re: TechNet 2.0 – Episode 1 – Core Scenarios and Branding

Keith, I am very much excited abotu the changes and direction TechNet is going to.

re: TechNet 2.0 – Episode 1 – Core Scenarios and Branding

I have this one Tony.

I have approved all of the comments I have received thus far. We have had some issues receiving comments in the past few weeks but I thought they were resolved. It would appear from your most recent comment that it's working, at least intermittently.

If you'll repost your question, we'll try to answer it.
