Brandon, I'm on the team that's launching this new app, and I'd say that Keith is pretty close to the mark on our intent with this capability. I'll probably continue to use Delicious myself for my non-work related bookmarks. Check out recent blog posts by others on the team, who've obviously picked up on several comments being made like yours.

Basically, we think this is one of several features we plan to add in order to make MSDN and TechNet much more community-driven sites.

Yea, you are probably right. But we didn't invent that. :?)

However, it'll be interesting to see what surfaces on our site. The overall context may be very different (the results).

I'm going to enter 200-300 bookmarks. I'll pick stuff I already have I think you might be interested in, and other stuff I stumble across as time goes by.

Hopefully the IT Pro context will emerge on the http://social.technet.microsoft.com/bookmarks area. Personally I am hoping for better visualization of what IT Pros link to and how that is important to their job today. I really think we have poor insght into that today. This might be an interesting way to understand what is really going on, assuming we get enough people to participate and we do something more compelling with the data.

Today the text tags bore me. But I would like to see some pivots on the data that are more interesting. If it ends up being just Microsoft employees linking to Microsoft online properties, that isn't social, that's marketing. I am trying to avoid that where possible.

The URLs are not working for me. HTTP 404 error code coming back for both links.

With regard to Microsoft Bookmarking Service, I wonder there is a way of importing del.icio.us, stumbleupon and others.
