Ramblings from another nerd on the grid
Looks like Apple finally said "enough!" to cheap, low end tv screens for laptops. The question is, will Windows laptops finally follow suite? In no other area have we seen a steady decline in performance and quality than in desktop screen resolutions. Even high res desktop monitors are becoming increasingly difficult to find. If Microsoft doesn't fix this, there will be a further "flight to quality". It's a shame that Metro was clearly designed for low dpi screens as a workaround...

Let's see. They killed the 17" line. No Ethernet port [adapter sold for a few fingers]. No optical drive [I'm sure sold separately for an arm and a few fingers]. But you can get it with a 512GB SSD. That will probably jack up the price by at least $600.
