  • Wow Windows Server 2008 is purdy! (^_^)

    Your workgroup is called "SolarSystem"?

  • Yep. All the home machines have planetary names.  Sorry, we no longer have a working Sun.  My SparcStation gave out long ago.  I tried to give it to Dominos to deliver pizza in.  :)

The ladies of the family have Venus and Pluto... I of course have Mars, Saturn and others...

The Microsoft assets all have boring names.

  • Why in the world do we want this on a Server? How much resources does something like this take up when it could be doing something more productive?

  • LOL !!!  I wondered how long it would be before I got that question.  Only minutes!

The answer is of course, "You wouldn't!!!"

I was a little surprised I could actually turn on Aero Glass after installing the desktop experience.  I would never do this on a real server, but since I'm setting up for some more screencasts, I thought I'd throw on some eye candy.  If it screws with my performance, it'll get turned off quicker than you can flip3d.

  • Uhh... sorry, dog..  Pluto was demoted to just another Trans-Neptunian object.  It's no longer a planet.  In your naming scheme I believe you have Uranus not currently assigned.. ;-)

  • Just curious... Why aren't you running a Domain?

  • Hey, I grew up thinking Pluta was a planet.  I'm not switching just because some fancy new astronomers the past year decided to change everything.  I do however like the fact there are more moons than was previously known...  kewl stuff.

Regarding the domain, the answer is actually on the screen if you look really closely.

The machine you see has one, and only one role installed.  It is a WSv Parent partition.  Hint hint.

  • Ahhh..  It's a host to a herd of VM's and they probably are members of the KewlBikerD00d domain who's DC is one of the VM's.  No sense getting the host involved in a domain that doesn't even exist until it's booted...
