VZAccess EVDO Update for Windows Vista RC1

As you'll recall, a few months ago I posted instructions on how to use the Verizon PC5740 pcmcia EVDO modem.  At that time, there was an incompatibility with the VZAccess software and Windows Vista.

I'm happy to report VZAccess v5.8.2 for my PC5740 works very nicely with Windows Vista RC1.  If you need to download VZAccess, see http://www.vzam.net.  Keep in mind there are different versions of VZAccess associated with different cards or chipsets.

  • I read awhile back that Verizon was bumping EVDO up in bandwidth.  You getting any better thruput?

  • I average 700k I think.  Half the cities I go to are at EDGE speeds but they are tier 3 cities.

Regarding speed increases, you'd have to check either with Verizonwireless, or snoop around on howardforums.com.

I have a Verizon event coming up and they are going to give me the road map, but it will contain NDA stuff.  Not bloggable.  Sorry.
