Microsoft isn't the only company with great marketing

Really, I'm just surprised it took this long.

These days, kids get potty trained later and later, because if you're using disposables (or perhaps cloth with a service), it's manageably easy to deal with dirty diapers well past toddlerhood and into young-kid-hood. If you're doing the laundry yourself or don't have the latest in leak-trapping-technology, you're going to be a lot more motivated to get your kid trained to use the toilet. So therefore the parents are less motivated to get potty training over with. Additionally, disposable diapers do such a good job of “wicking away moisture” that the kid may not even know he's wet. And the best way to motivate a kid to not wet himself is to make the sensation of wet or otherwise soiled be an obvious and uncomfortable one.

So now, Pampers has created a new product for a problem we didn't even know we had: diapers with Wet Sensation Liners.

New Pampers Feel 'n Learn Advanced Trainers™ are the only training pant with the Wet Sensation Liner™, which allows a child to FEEL when they're wet to help them LEARN when it's time to use the potty.

The Wet Sensation Liner is a soft, suspended liner designed to be in direct contact with the children's skin, so they can feel a sensation of being wet, like with underwear, but with leakage protection. While the vast majority of wetness is absorbed, this suspended liner actually holds a small amount of wetness against children's skin for a short period of time, helping them to associate these sensations with having to go potty.

I'm afraid I'm a bit of a tease, however - they aren't available until August! Of course, I make fun of them now... I'm sure that a year from now I'll be buying up stock.

On a side note, I love how they have to bold and capitalize FEEL and LEARN so that you understand that they are FEEL 'n LEARN diapers. Oh, I get it! It's because they're LEAFing and FERNing! Er, wait.

[Update 7/1: What an honor. This entry is currently the #1 Yahoo hit for pampers feel n learn.]
