Fast company has an interesting article today about how mapping sites such as MapQuest.com maintain their data. There are folks whose entire job is to drive around, noting metadata about roads and rules that eventually gets pulled into databases tapped by MQ and other such sites.

As it stands today, only Yahoo Maps has any idea where my house is (it's on a fairly new street). I've never bothered to submit a correction to any of the other sites, but this article inspires me to give that a shot and see what kind of response I get.
